This lecture is part of the Whitney Humanities Center’s Fall 2014 series, Franke Lectures in the Humanities, entitled  “Utopia”.

This lecture will be held at 5pm Whitney Humanities Center and is free and open to the public.

Seo-Young Chu is Assistant Professor of English at Queens College, City University of New York.  Her publications include Do Metaphors Dream of Literal Sleep? A Science-Fictional Theory of Representation (Harvard University Press, 2011) as well as essays on postethnic science fiction, the place of mathematics in Emily Dickinson’s poetry, Asian American science fiction, nineteenth-century mesmerism, North Korea’s anachronistic mystique, and Techno-Orientalist stereotypes. Her current book project is titled “Against Unification of the Koreas.”
