Jesse joined the EALL department in 2013. He received his BA in Chinese and Asian Studies at UC Berkeley and his MA in classical Chinese literature at Fudan University in Shanghai. He focuses on Ming and Qing dynasty print culture, book collections, and anthologies of Tang and Song poetry and prose. He has worked on the “literature of the strange,” mostly the chuanqi and zhiguai genres of classical novels. When he gets the chance, he enjoys classical music, occasionally tinkles the ivories, and dabbles in photography, Chinese painting and cooking.
