Caitlin Casiello received her B.A. from Barnard College, where she studied classical and medieval Japanese literature, and her M.A. from Harvard University, where she focused on gender and sexuality in contemporary Japanese media with a thesis project on pornographic manga. In the combined program in Film and Media Studies and East Asian Languages and Literatures, Caitlin hopes to continue research on the performance of gender and sexuality in the Japanese media landscape. She is also interested in fan cultures, online spaces, and the influence of new media forms on social structures.
