Chen Li

Chen Li 李晨 went to Deep Springs and received a B.A. from Barnard College. Her work examines how a poetics of myth and science has shaped conceptions of modern China, with particular attention to the limits of historical knowledge. Her research spans race and ethnicity, Chinese liberalism, folk art, borderlands, modernism, and spirituality, alongside broader interests in aesthetics, psychoanalysis, rhetoric, Buddhism, German Idealism, art criticism, and contemporary East Asian culture and politics.
